Project description
Rail tunnels and Espoonlahti station – LU24 – is a part of a second stage of Länsimetro project which connects Hel- sinki capital area with a city of Espoo in total length of 7km and 5 underground stations. The section LU24 – Espoonlahti consists of total driveage 2.984m of track tunnels and a station excavated in hard granite formations by usage of method Drill & Blast. The construction includes two technological chambers with ventilation shafts in each of them and seven interconnection tunnels. Challenging task was an excavation of underground station with the Lippulaiva business centre above, blasting works in vibration sensitive zones in highly populated urban area together with excessive amount of grouting works.
